I finally found the Christmas spirit!! It may have been because.....
1. The Weather. We finally have a bit of nip in the air. All week I've been delivering packages while wearing shorts and a t-shirt. The chill today made it seem so much more Christmassy
2. Gifts on my route. I love getting presents on my route. All year it's complaints, but at Christmas the people who actually like me show up...with presents!! (And if any postal folks are reading, I did not accept a cash gift....wink wink)
3. Annoying co-worker is going away. It's a Christmas miracle!! My cubicle neighbor who would complain if he won the lottery is taking another route in the other zip code. Oh yeah!!
4. Finished Shopping. We went to Bath and Body works tonight which is where you go when you have totally run out of ideas. We got lovely candles and hand soap for a few co-workers who have put up with me talking about the adoption all year.
5. Staying Home for the Holidays. We have finally commited to not leaving town this weekend. We were talking about meeting Jeff's parents in South Georgia again this year, but since that would mean 7 hours in the car (yuck) We are staying home. Jeff is on call, so he really shouldn't leave town anyway. This means I get 2 days to lounge around by the fire in my jammies.
6. An Amazing Sugar High. The Christmas goodies are a-rollin' in. A co-worker made his yearly batch of New Orleans Pralines and gave me a mondo-bag. And today one of my customers gave me this mini-cake thing with whipped cream and these little chocolate shavings on top. Just so you know, I have always had awesome mail carrying skills, but today I added eating cake with a fork off a doilie while delivering, to my repetoire.
Whatever the reason, I've got the spirit. So if I don't post between now and then ... Merry Christmas!!!

I was in a hurry yesterday and crammed our mailbox with cookies (and a box of stick-on heating pads, he was out with a bad back) for Mr. Mailman. I just crammed the boxes in there (with no note). He, probably not knowing if they were for him or not, just pushed the boxes aside and put our mail in the middle of the boxes.
Okay, I put wrapping paper around them and then put them out again with a note to "Mr. Mailman" today (but he had already arrived). So, he gets them tomorrow.
Hmm, you've inspired me to do something for my mailman. I've only met him a couple of times, but I think I am going to leave him a treat tomorrow.
Merry Christmas! - Stephanie

Merry Christmas to you too! Enjoy your lazy days. We all need 'em.
Peace and warm feet at the fire place.
