First of all...the accomplishments! Jeff installed our new gas logs. It's an early Christams present from my parents and we got the Mac-Daddy logs!! Remote control! You can set it to manual or automatic where they cut on or off based on your desired temp. We don't even have to light the pilot light. The remote does that, too. You know it makes this fire-phobic person happy knowing I can shut off the pilot light when not in use.
Next up, take a look at the new flooring in the foyer. We finally did a little more work.

And here's a refresher of what the foyer used to look like.

Also, I need to ask a question about diaper bags. I know I've got a lot of time left on this one, but I seem to be obsessed with it right now anyway. And since I'm finally thinking baby stuff again, I figured I'd ride the wave.
My main question is... what kind do I need? Zoe will be in some type of daycare (I'll get advice on that later), so I imagine a bag for that is necessary. Then do you get a different one for running around town or do you just keep one really organized one for all your outings. Knowing me, I'll probably end up with diaper supplies stuffed in all the cubby-holes of my my car, but I'd at least like to start nice and organized.
It has to be one Jeff is willing to carry. I like the backpack concept, but since I don't see other women with this type of diaper bag, I figure there has to be a down-side I haven't thought of yet. I like the Baby Sherpa and the One Step Ahead back packs. But are those the best choice for a day care? They're not travelling anywhere so the pack concept isn't necessary, and if it's just for me running errands, I certainly don't need one that big.
My other recent fav' is the Land's End Do-It-All Diaper Bag If you follow the link, click on "larger view" to see all the pictures. I love how it has a frog-mouth style. Easy to get into. This seems like the day-care winner, but I don't really like the luggage look for toting around town.
Thank goodness we have 6-9 more months to get this straightened out! And when I sort this one out, we'll start talking car seats!!
Better go get my spot on the sofa warmed up now....

Hi Georgia! Stay away from the Lands End tote one…it looks great, but it is VERY BULKY! Like carrying a gym bag around. Not something you could have a baby on one hip and manage carrying on the other. We ordered it and quickly returned it. We got their backpack one instead and love it! We took it to China and it was GREAT…it holds A LOT. I think it would work fine for daycare too. Also, it is manly, but not too manly I also have a cute smaller one for short/quick trips out.
Take care,
Dawn (your 12-20 buddy!)
Britax Decathalon = our favorite car seat with great reviews.
The entry way looks great and the fire logs sound really cool.
I have the LE backpack and a small fabric diaper bag for smaller trips. I'll probably get one or two more just to store in the cars.

The foyer looks beautiful! Great job!
Doug and I have remote control gas logs too! I LOVE THEM! You never have to clean a fireplace again!
Oh my, I don't even remember what diaper bag I used for Leah! Anyway, love the floor and fireplace - very cozy.
I've got the One Step Ahead backpack for traveling, it's too big for everyday but I keep it packed in my car for the big emergencies...which I won't detail for you here in case you feel the need to change your mind after hearing about them :):):):)
Georgie girl, I sure hope you will post pictures of the lovely Christmas tree which you and Jeff
"created" today. It's so beautiful!! Honey and I thank you!!
Love, Mom
I would get at least a couple of bags. I use one exclusively for daycare. Our daughter has to have 2 changes of clothes for school and I don't want to leave them there, so I keep them in her bag. I can change them as the weather changes. Get a daycare bag that is nothing fancy. I just used a black Carter's bag that was given to us. I put in two changes of clothes-with socks, any bottle stuff (when she was on formula), a blankie(lovie) and whatever else she needed. We never had to change it much so it just went and came home from daycare. now that she is out of formula, we leave her bottles/cups there and they provide milk. So we take a small zip bag that hold her clothes and blanket.
As for every day, go for your cutesy, pretty bag that you love. Make sure it can hold bottles, formula etc. Outside pockets for a bottle or bottles of water are nice. As our daughter is now 2, we downsized to a very small bag that only holds a few diapers, a travel wipe container, it can also squeeze in a snack cup with treats and a drink. This is really all we need for trips to the store or short ventures. If we are going all day or somewhere I need to carry more stuff, I break out my big one.
So right now I'd suggest a plain, durable one for daycare and fancy one for everyday. Eventually you may want to downsize.
